Technology in education is affected my many issues. Some of those reasons include cultural, economical, and technical changes. Many students do not have access to technology because of economical reasons. Students who come from low-income areas often do not have the opportunity to have access online or even to a computer. Also, the rapid changes in technology often prove impossible to keep up with. The access to this technology is often difficult for schools to obtain because of expenses, and when it is obtained, there is always something new coming out that is bigger and better. Finally, cultural differences show us that we need to consider our students' backgrounds when considering technology. It can be a great asset to the classroom, but cultural differences need to be addressed.
The history of education has taught us that teachers will always be important to the classroom. Even though we are leaning more and more on distance education, there is still a vital role played by the teacher in the classroom. The connection made with students through personal interaction shows us that we will always need teachers in the classroomm. It has also taught us that change is impossible to keep up with. No matter how hard we try, we will always be a step behind the ever changing technology. We should strive to keep up, but we will never be able to have all the latest tools and gadgets. Finally, we have learned that older technologies can be useful. Even though technology is ever changing, the technologies developed in the past can still be helpful in various ways.
I am glad that you mentioned the continued need for the teacher in the classroom. No matter how well advanced technology becomes in the future, our students will still need teachers to lead and guide them in becoming productive citizens
